The meaning of Aidilfitri to me :)

The city dwellers are busy shopping like crazy....sales are every where. Just a brief introduction, Hari Raya Aidilfitri or Eid ul-Fitr is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadhan, the holy month of Islam. Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity," while Fitr or fitrah means "nature of origin". The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the thirty days of dawn-to-sunset fasting. The first day of Eid falls on the first day of the month Syawal.

A week before the Hari Raya everyone had returned to their homes and family members gathered. My sisters and my brother also back earlier because our brothers and sisters will work together to tidy the house. The first thing we do is try shirts that have been customized according to the theme that has been set and the design we wanted. After trying on clothes, we screamed with joy the new shirts ready to book achieve what we want. After that, we make cookies. We just make some sort of purchase only and the rest of the friends mother. Day prior to the day of Hari Raya, father and brother went to the forest to find the bamboo. Our home will provide sticky rice, coconut and banana leaves to make a Lemang. Lemang is a traditional food of the Malays while celebrating the Hari Raya. Lemang is also one of my favorite foods. Apart Lemang, we siblings will make Ketupat. Ketupat is also a traditional food of the Malays. Whilst we make ketupat, mother would cook rendang chicken. Such a year earlier, the principal will buy three chickens to be cooked rendang. Lemang, ketupat and rendang chicken is compulsory food for my family. Ketupat is one of the must-haves at Hari Raya. It is served together with beef rending (beef cooked with coconut milk and malay spices) together with satay (skewered grilled meat). Other delicious delicates are such as lemang (glutinous rice cooked in bamboo tubes), serunding (dry coconut fried with chilli) and curry chicken. These are traditional dishes and can be encountered in almost all houses in Aidilfitri. So many local cakes and biscuts to choose. My waist line will be in trouble.

Further, upon completion of cooking, our family will go home with the lead Lemang grandmother. Normally we would bring in 15 stem Lemang. All relatives have gathered at grandma's house and grandma's house is certainly very lively. In addition, we will be playing with firecrackers in droves. My uncles a cop and he brings a lot of firecrackers were seized by police. Almost every year he would bring a large box or more. Neighbors at home grandmother also played once with us. Park host grandma's house is buzzing with excitement all of us. Firecrackers brought by an uncle very much until we resume play tomorrow. After playing with firecrackers, we will go to the Expo for shopping because after 12.00 AM all sellers will make the auction with the cheaper price. Our customary each year will go to the Expo. I would usually buy wholesale scarves at Expo.

On the morning of Hari Raya, our family would go to the mosque. After returning from the mosque we would get a new dress. Everyone looks so beautiful and stylish. The first thing we do is our siblings would apologize to our parents. Dad given ‘duit Raya’ for our siblings. After apologizing, our breakfast together. Thing we must do is take a picture of a family. Not valid if there is no picture. In addition, we will go home to the house of relatives and friends father. Feast of very lively once when everyone gathered en masse and chatting about all sorts of things.

On the third day of Syawal, my family will be holding an open house. We will invite their relatives and friends. I will invite all my friends. Arrival of friends very good news for me since we all learn, all rarely see. My house will be noisy with all our voice. Although hard to hold open houses, but we are happy because this is the most meaningful to us. Could gather en masse and distant relatives are coming.

Hari Raya is very meaningful to me. While we enjoy celebrating Hari Raya, but let us not forget to pay zakat to help the needy and desperately need help. ‘Alhamdulillah’ my family will never forget to pay zakat.’SELAMAT HARI RAYA’. Be careful on the road and remember their loved ones.
